Services and rights for young people
Submitted by cedric on 14 December 2006 - 12:10pm. rights of ypA survey of voluntary and community sector providers of services for children and young people (C&YP) has been launched by umbrella bodies NAVCA, NCVCCO and NCVYS. As well as wanting to get an overall picture of what’s happening to such services in the regions and at local authority level, they are also interested in the local experiences of smaller delivery organisations in communities.

The Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and Lead Professional (LP) working are a key part of the Change for Children programme which attempts to transform services for children with additional needs so that the child's, rather than the services', needs are at the centre.
This change agenda is led by five linked outcomes (be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well-being), which require a holistic understanding of children.
Charities criticise government’s lack of progress on children’s rights
Submitted by cedric on 1 December 2006 - 9:23am. rights of ypA report by a coalition of over 100 children’s charities has found the government has failed to make progress on 80 per cent of the recommendations on children’s rights made by the UN four years ago. In its annual report, the Children’s Rights Alliance criticised the government for failing to make "significant progress" on 66 of the 78 recommendations made by the UN Committee of the Rights of the Child in 2002.
