What's the Common Assessment Framework then .......

|

Background
The development of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) can be traced back to The Victoria Climbie Inquiry (The Laming Report), which made a number of recommendations to Government in order to improve protection for children.

The recommendations included the need for Local Authorities to:

"Establish reliable ways of assessing the needs and circumstances of children in their area..."

The CAF has been developed for use by practitioners in all organisations so that they can communicate and work more effectively together.

Young People and Crime: Findings from the 2005 Offending, Crime and Justice Survey

This report presents the first findings from the 2005 Offending, Crime and Justice Survey. It focuses on levels and trends in youth offending, anti-social behaviour and victimisation among young people aged from 10 to 25 living in the general household population in England and Wales.

The survey does not cover young people living in institutions, including prisons, or the homeless, and thus omits some high offending groups - link to report here.
