Positive Activities for Young People - response to consultation
Section 6 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006. requires upper tier local authorities (i.e. Hampshire County Council) to take lead responsibility for securing access to the provision of positive activities young people require. The Act places responsibility for fulfilling the legislation with the Director of Children's Services and the Lead Member for Children's Services.
HCC acknowledge that "it is crucial to the successful delivery of the requirements of the legislation to involve a full range of partners and stakeholders including those represented on Hampshire's Children and Young People's Partnership Board, all tiers of local authorities, different departments of the County Council and young people."
The statutory guidance makes clear that local authorities should be able to demonstrate improvement in the promotion of positive activities for young people in 2007/08.
This Section of the legislation is out for public consultation which ends on 31 March, 2007.
